Practicing something once or twice will never make you good at it. In order to become better at something, you MUST practice it hundreds if not thousands of times. This is true of many things in life, not just martial arts. This means when your instructors tell you you need to practice your martial arts at home, they aren't kidding. There have been many failed stripe tests recently. When the instructors ask if the student is practicing their curriculum at home, the answer is almost always no. Students will never improve their martial arts or truly be able to defend themselves if they are not practicing at home to keep their skills fresh. Coming to class twice a week is just laying the foundation and receiving the basics. It is ultimately up to the students to practice and want to become better martial artists. If you have to think about a technique, you haven't done it enough! Practice, practice, practice!
