Would you talk to a kindergartner the same way you’d talk to a college student? 🎓 Would you have the same expectations of them? Would you play the same games with them? We’ve found that trying to hold a teenager’s attention while also holding a six-year-old’s attention is difficult. Worse, it doesn’t offer the best value to either the teenager or the six-year-old. But, it is possible that both the teenager and the child are the same rank: yellow belt, for example. This is why, at Kung Fu 4 Kids, we divide classes by age, NOT rank. By grade, our classes are pre-K, K–2nd, 3rd–5th, Middle School & Up. 👉 What is important in our teaching is not so much the WHAT but the HOW. 👉 The content of the class (white-belt techniques, green-belt techniques, etc.) won’t matter unless we teach it in a way that each age group is most receptive to. For example, while we may have our 11th–adult class work on one technique for twenty minutes, our K–2nd class would practice the same move for only five to ten minutes. ⏰ Or we might teach the technique to the younger kiddos one-on-one, or through a drill or activity disguised as a game. 🥊...
