Following CDC guidelines, individuals who have been vaccinated can engage in hands-on/contact training with other individuals who have been vaccinated (proof of vaccination is required to take part in these classes). We recognize that some people will be too far away to regularly attend in person classes. A Krav Maga class is a great place to get fit. If you are concerned about your fitness level, you should attend one of our Beginner classes/seminars first, as these are taught at a slower pace than our regular ones. Here, you will get a better idea as to the level of fitness that is required. These Beginner Krav Maga classes/seminars also usually take place after our regular ones, so whilst you wait for your class to start you will get to watch part of a regular class as well. For our beginner Krav Maga and regular Krav Maga classes no special clothing or equipment is required. We train barefoot, so there is no footwear required, and you should dress in comfortable gym type clothing - we don't allow students to wear tank-tops, for hygiene reasons. When you join the school you will be given a school t-shirt, which is the only dress code we require. The only classes that you will need equipment (MMA gloves and shin guards) for are those where sparring takes place, however for those who are not yet ready to spar there are non-contact options in these classes, as well.

There are many different "forms" of sparring and partner work that we use to replicate the dynamic nature of a real-life confrontation, and these training methods are incorporated into our regular classes. However we do have opportunities for those who want to engage in "traditional" sparring, and encourage students - when they are ready - to take part in this type of training. However, it must be acknowledged that while traditional sparring, where two partners pad and glove up, is a useful training tool, it doesn't reflect the full nature and reality, of real-life violence, and so it is necessary to use other training methods to complete and fulfill everything that will be experienced during a fight - all of these methods are practiced safely, with the goal of reducing any possibilities of injury etc. There will be opportunities for those who want to spar however these will be offered on completion of a basic certification that recognizes that you are able to spar safely without the risk of injuring others or yourself.
