Lead or sport climbing is an intermediate-advanced skill in which the climber clips their rope into fixed points along the route as they ascend. (By contrast, the rope in a top-rope system is already anchored at the top of the wall before the climber begins.) Yes! Anyone who wishes to lead climb will first need to pass a Lead Test, sign the lead climbing waiver, and receive a Summit lead climbing tag. The tag must be displayed on your harness at all times while lead climbing and belaying. Check in at the front desk when you arrive, and a qualified staff member will conduct your lead climbing test. You will need to bring your own rope, belay device, harness, and lead partner. Summit does not rent out lead ropes.

Children under the age of 14 must be supervised by an adult at all times while in the gym. All minors must have a waiver on file signed by the parent or legal guardian. Fitness equipment may be used by members aged 16+ and non-members aged 18+. Classes: If a student is under the age of 16, they must either be accompanied by a parent (who will either participate in class or take up a space in class to watch), or they must present written permission from the parent or guardian, which may be verified through verbal communication. If said minor is disruptive during class, they may be asked to leave, parent or guardian will be communicated with, and the minor may be banned from classes until they reach the age of 16.
