India is one to watch! nnPhoto #2- Judith Jamison, professional dancer, highly regarded choreographer and Artistic Director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. Ms. Jamison was once considered Alvin Ailey’s muse, where he created “Cry” a solo for Ms. Jamison, as a tribute to his mother. Jamison went on to direct the company for 21 years. Under her direction, the company received numerous awards and accolades, performing across the world. nnPhoto #3 - Michaela DePrince’s rise to the stage is admirable. From living in Sierra Leone, to moving into an orphanage, building a life with a new family, discovering her love for dance, and putting in countless hours of work to become a professional ballet dancer, Michaela DePrince is an inspiration to us all. She now dances with The Boston Ballet and go es back to the community by teaching occasional workshop dance classes. nnPhoto #4 - Janet Collins, is the first African Prima Ballerina with Metropolitan Opera in New York City. Janet collins endured racial injustices while on tour as a professional dancer, however her passion of dance outweighed her negative experiences. Janet Collins performed in many ballets, films and Broadway shows.
