Suffering from shoulder and neck tension? Many people feel that stretching the upper back and neck can resolve this. It can, I don’t want to take away any validity in that process. I have found that hanging using your feet as support can really help the shoulder girdle relax and create a length in the neck. Find something you can hold onto, get onto your tip toes and slowly lower your body weight until you feel a stretch. Don’t pull too hard for too long. You will get better results if you support your body weight while hanging and focus on your breath. A good amount of long slow inhales and exhales should be about 4. That should have you stretching a little more than 30 seconds. One time a day should be fine, you can do them everyday unless you have joint pain.
