“When I was growing up, my family had super high expectations for me. And I lived up to them as best I could. I went off to Harvard University with the goal of becoming a doctor like my dad and brother. nnBut a few years into college, I finally admitted to myself that it was not what I wanted. nnTrouble was I had no idea what I did want or how to figure that out. 🤷‍♀️ nnAlmost a decade and 3 career paths later, I started truly putting my puzzle together. nnWhen I joined Signet Education, it changed everything - I had found something that excited me, felt really meaningful, and aligned with my values and skills. Honestly, it made all the twists and turns I had taken up to that point make so much more sense. 🎯 nnI had never given myself the chance to figure out what I truly wanted for myself, and had only been trying to please others - my parents, teachers, romantic partners, etc. When I found the thing that clicked, all that noise just faded away. I could finally listen to myself. nnI share this not because I think my story is so unique - I share it because we know it is so common! But we rarely talk about how to pursue our own definition of success in a way that feels authentic to us. nnToday, Signet Education helps hundreds of teenagers a year embrace this mindset and discover and pursue their own paths. This is why the work I do is so meaningful to me. 💞 nnI get to be the mentor I wish I had all those years ago.”nn- Sheila Akbar, PhD nCOO, Signet Education nnOur DMs are open!
