FAQs

What can I expect?

Our community is welcoming! Feel free to introduce yourself to the students around you and ask them any questions. Our instructors are here for you. Please let them know if you are new to yoga, and if you have any injuries, limitations, and/or pregnancies they should be aware of. Always feel free to rest and modify your practice as needed. Your teacher will never force or push you to stay in poses. You will build strength and endurance over time. Enjoy your practice, take care of yourself and always let us know how we can make your yoga experience more enjoyable!

What kind of yoga do you teach?

Yoga practices at NHY are the product of the time-tested and evolving wisdom of our instructors. We incorporate intelligent alignment concepts and a variety of movement modalities to promote a safe and sustainable yoga practice for all body, age and fitness levels. We weave heart-felt themes, philosophy, mindfulness and more into an enriching practice that nourishes the body/mind/spirit. We teach to your real body and the heart that lives in it.

When should I arrive?

Please arrive 10-15 minutes before class begins. We have a self check-in station and your instructor will be available to you help you check in; they will direct you to class, answer questions, take payments, etc. If you are running a bit late, you will still be welcome, as long as there is space in your class. However, please wait outside the classroom, or sit/stand quietly in the back of the room until the brief, seated centering and/or chanting has concluded at the beginning of class. Please note, if your class typically fills AND there is a waitlist, we will only reserve your spot until 5 minutes before the start time of your class, and your reservation will be considered a No Show.

What is your scent policy?

Because scents can cause a distraction in class, particularly for those who have sensitivities or allergies, we ask that you refrain from using perfume, artificial fragrances, fragrant lotions or other pungent smells on your body or yoga gear.
