FAQs
Is my child required to have proper riding boots and/or a helmet?
Though it is preferred for riders to come prepared with their own boots and helmet, CRF Equestrian does provide proper riding footwear and helmets for students who do not have their own.
Is it okay to wear a helmet other than an equestrian riding helmet?
No. For proper safety, riders are required to wear certified safety helmets designed for equestrian sports, and are required to replace a helmet after a fall or when the safety rating expires (about 4 years).
Is there a work to ride option?
Due to rising costs, the farm does not offer a work to ride opportunity. We hope to offer a program in the future like this for families who cannot afford weekly riding lessons.
When riding at CRF is my child required to show or compete?
Absolutely not! Horseback riding lessons here at the farm are, above all else, to discover the joy and fun of horses. This activity should be fun! If riders are interested in making this their sport, because horseback riding is a sport, then going into competition is a great avenue. There is absolutely no pressure at all to compete.
If we are boarding our horse at another barn, but still want to be involved in the lesson program at the farm, how do we do that?
Families are more than welcome to take lessons with their own horses by either hauling to the farm or having us come to you as long as the insurance of the barn the horse is boarded at allows it or the owner of the barn allows it.
