Most medications and many medical conditions do not interfere with your ability to receive massage, however many require that the therapist adjust the level of pressure that needs to be used. For example: if you are on blood thinners, the therapist will use less pressure to reduce the chance of bruising. Call ahead with any conditions and/or medications you think might be a problem and the therapist will contact your primary physician to ensure that you are medically cleared to receive massage.

People do sometimes report feeling sore or stiff a few hours later or when they wake up the next morning akin to the way they would feel after a workout. It should dissipate within 24-48 hours; if it does not, please inform the therapist so they can lighten up their pressure during the next session.
