FAQs
Is it okay to wear leggings to ride?
Unfortunately, no. Riders are required to wear jeans or breeches to ride in. Proper jeans or breeches are key to protecting from pinching and chaffing when in the saddle.
Are friends who are interested in riding at the farm able to watch or shadow a lesson to see if it will be a good fit?
Yes, but no. Yes, they are welcome to watch the last fifteen minutes of the lesson. No, they are not allowed to watch or shadow the whole thing for safety reasons as previously stated. Encourage them to schedule a time to come out for a tour or start lessons.
Do you do trail rides or take groups of people on rides?
Occasionally. For enrolled students we go for trail rides as a part of lessons a couple times during the year and/or if students want to do something special for a birthday. We have been hired by acquaintances to go on trail rides but it is not something that we advertise.
Is my child required to lease a horse from the farm or own a horse in order to show or compete?
Leasing or horse ownership is great but can be a financially difficult for some families. Having access to a horse in this capacity is not a requirement if showing with CRF but it is helpful, especially when advancing to higher levels and making horseback riding your child's sport. Riders can easily track their communication and development with the horse they're leasing or owning, it also ensures that they will be able to use said horse. If leasing, riders do not have to pay for tack and horse rental for the days of shows and are allowed unlimited practice rides the week of a show.
Can we board at the farm?
If we had fifteen acres or a twenty-stall barn that would be a resounding most likely yes. With our limited space we do not have room to house extra horses. There are barns in the area with affordable board that we can refer you to.
