Maurits Cornelis (M.C.) Escher (1898–1972), was a Dutch artist. He is known for his often mathematically inspired woodcuts, lithographs and mezzotints. He is one of the world's most famous graphic artists, known for his impossible structures, his transformation prints and repeated tiled patterns, explorations of infinity, and tessellations. He began to incorporate geometry and symmetry into his art, combining math and art together, experimenting with repeating patterns and morphing figures.
