I have been taking Tai Chi for the past three years because I needed to do something healthy for my body; I needed to work on my bone health, balance, gait and posture.
This is an excellent school for someone just starting to learn Tai Chi or for someone like myself who studied Tai Chi for 5 years 20 years ago and needed a refresher course.
Gene broke down the mystical aspect "Raise the Spirit to Heaven", according to the T'ai Chi Classics, and broke it down to the practical meaning, stand with your head erect(which is a simplyfication on my part).
As I was being put in the machine, I closed my eyes and began the preparation for Sung Breathing, a technique to relax tension from the body.
Experiencing some neurological problems, Gene and Tai Chi have been not only helpful but the classes have provided a "community".
Have found the instructors to be wonderfully patient and clear with their instruction.
In addition he offers workshops during the year that deepen and enrich the practice.
I have been taking Tai Chi classes with Gene Nelson for over 12 years (since 9/02), and the learning process has been, and still is, enjoyable and beneficial, both mentally and physically.
During that time I have learned not only physical balance but to be mindfully engaged in all of the programs and workshops given.
The Tai Chi and Qigong classes with Gene Nelson have taught me how to breathe and relax, have improved certain health conditions and are continually very beneficial to my well being.
