YOGA NIDRA with Sarah Blizzard Yoga Nidra is a practice where you can reconnect with your true nature. It is also called non sleep deep rest, or simply yogic sleep. You are lying down, in a shape/pose of your choosing. Sarah will guide you through our layers of experience, using sensory awareness, imagery, body sensing techniques, breath and more. As we travel through these layers, also called koshas, we begin to relax and let go of unnecessary distractions that can get tangled up through our emotions, feelings and beliefs. This is a creative way to reconnect to our authentic, honest self. Wear comfortable clothes for you, so that you can be comfy while laying down. Bring a yoga mat, perhaps a pillow and any other props for support. Anything to make you comfortable. Sarah recommend wearing clothes and bringing pillows that you sleep with, that way you will be surrounded by your familiar and comfy support. Sarah writes each of her Nidra meditations, draws inspiration from astronomy, anatomy, yogic philosophy and other sources. Yoga Nidra is a refreshing practice for those of us who get distracted during other kinds of meditations. In Nidra, Sarah will guide you into a sleep like state, where you will feel like you are sleeping but your body remains aware. This is a practice of welcoming whatever arises and when we do, we can then let go of anything that doesn’t serve us.
