We have an upcoming CONTINUING EDUCATION opportunity LIVE, IN-PERSON at the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency. Trauma-Informed Yoga to Promote Student Resiliency aims to support teachers and educators in providing tools and strategies to supporting students in their classrooms who may have experienced trauma. Led by Jordan Turner, former educator and the current Yoga in the Schools Director and Registered Yoga Teacher. Participants will: - develop an understanding of the effects of trauma on a student’s body, brain and overall well-being - learn how yoga/movement and mindfulness activities, as well as other strategies, can be used with students in a way that helps promote the building of resilience to mitigate the effects of traumatic experiences - reflect on their own past experiences and how that impacts the educational environment they create for students - expand their understanding of how to avoid re-traumatizing through a mindful approach of being aware of their language, environment, and their own teacher qualities This will be achieved through a series of discussions, physical movement, breathing exercises, games/activities, and reflections.
