I want to clear up what I mean by small group voice classes, which is what my #Feet First Vocal Program classes are. I know some voice teachers like to offer group classes that really just end up being group voice lessons. And that's totally fine--whatever works for folks. This can be a great option if you want to give budget options to your clients. This is not, however, what I do. (I do offer sliding scales because I want folks to have access, especially BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ clients.) 💥We work on our voices. 🔥We also work on listening skills (listening to each other, as well as sharing songs we love and discussing them) as this not only trains their ears, it also helps them hear HOW MANY VOCAL OPTIONS WE HAVE. 👊I'm a big proponent of demystifying the vocal instrument--this means that we talk about how the voice actually works. This helps folks understand that when they can't do some vocal thing they want to do (which inevitably is shame producing and I'll have none of that thankyouverymuch), it's likely because they just don't know how to "drive the car" yet. Our voices function in pretty specific ways and we need to learn how to strengthen and, especially, coordinate the muscles to work together in new ways. 👏I have a curriculum that I have written and follow. I have each class planned. The Feet First Vocal Program is a course with specific goals. And, it's awesome.
