I had someone very nice say something very nice about me yesterday. Which was to paraphrase, that you don’t often see people my age that are in great shape. I’m not posting that to brag. I actually think I have a ways to go to be in great shape. But I understand what she was saying. And I think, with this being the season of resolutions and goals, then I want to drop a little two cents on everybody. Getting in shape or working out or losing weight or any of those things that we make resolutions for, is not about going to the gym and working out for two hours a day every day, and eating only cabbage soup except for your one cheat day. It’s about small incremental adjustments to your Life. If you have not worked out in the past three years, you are not going to be able to muster the self-discipline and the willpower to work out for an hour every single day six days a week. Because you would’ve already been doing it. However, if you grab A weight and worked out for five minutes, that’s an excellent start. And after a few weeks you’re gonna find out the five minutes doesn’t feel like enough and you maybe want to do 10 minutes. You don’t run a marathon by taking one giant step and finishing it. You run a marathon by starting out by running for 100 yards and then building on that.
