I looked at the helmet's ability to reduce both linear and rotational head trauma injury. My research also revealed that many helmets constructed to protect against high level impact were actually too stiff and did not help prevent concussion in low impact.nNot all helmets are created equal. Many popular models that look good give little protection and may be giving the rider a false sense of security. Of 39 models evaluated by the Virginia Tech Helmet Lab, two models received the top score of 5 stars.
