One of the best parts of it is that you work with the same student (almost) every week for the whole year, so you have the opportunity to build a relationship with them, Tutoring Chicago is a great organization with such passionate and wonderful people.

Tutoring Chicago's program structure offers plenty of resources and training, and tutoring occurs within a greater classroom unit that is there to help support you and your student.
They also offer locations throughout Chicago (Lincoln Park, Near West Side, Hyde Park and Logan Square), so you can volunteer wherever is most convenient for you.
I am a new tutor for the 2018 school year (at the new Hyde Park location), and have had a wonderful experience with this volunteer organization.
It's so much more than just helping with his math homework, it's providing a space for a child to build a relationship with a trusted adult and to develop self-confidence.
I am very impressed by their high level of organization, and their thoughtful and effective programming.
There was curriculum, and resources available to teach the kids and I always feel that I have a support system from the site manager so I never have to guess on how to deal with a situation.
