Irvington Shakespeare Company

The play begins with the mystical appearance of a poet, Gower in the middle of a woods. Gower conjures the tale of a young person's failed quest for the perfect future. Plunging our hero into the vicious seas of the Adriatic, love and despair become touchstones while Gower points to the wild uncertainties the world holds for us all. In the last third of the play, our magical narrator shifts away from despair, by weaving the tale of the next generation's struggles into the tapestry of our hero's life. A child rescues a parent, not for familial fealty but from a place of deep compassion for suffering and loss. Shakespeare tells us the ties that bind are the ones we sow, if we can only see them when they appear.

Sentiment Analysis
I’ve had the pleasure of seeing two productions (summer 2021 & spring 2022) and believe Westchester is lucky to have Irvington Shakespeare Company presenting Shakespeare to new audiences.
An amazing abridged adaptation of Love’s Labour’s Lost!
Wonderful opportunity to see the talented ISC perform one of Shakespeare's lesser known plays, exploring the themes of gender, identity and power, challenging us to explore who we really are, and whom we really love.
Such a great production, stellar performance by the entire cast, and a beautiful outdoor setting that both contributed to the creativity of the play and provided a breezy, lovely time even on a hot day.
