The practice of yoga is much like housekeeping. In this 2 hour workshop students will develop an understanding of the archetypical abode of their body through the use of metaphor and imagination. Within this abode, we have 3 floors and each floor represents a different part of the whole while containing unique information, energy and functions. Our bottom floor substantiates us, making sure we are grounded, safe and stable. Our middle floor potentiates us, housing our capacity and our participation in the world. Our top floor holds our vision and our imagination which liberates us through our creativity. Our job is to set up the optimal conditions within our house in order to not just survive, but thrive. We must make sure the foundation is strong, the pipes are working, the clutter is cleared, and dust is not collecting so that we are able to relax, restore and find deep rest. Suitable for teachers and students alike, this workshop will provide an exploration through the three floors of the body and how to consciously integrate them and work with the architecture of embodiment of the whole being. Expect a fluidly moving practice with a focus on deep structural alignment and powerful pranayama techniques, with plenty of deep assists from props and the teacher. Katonah Yoga is a fluid blend of Hatha Yoga, Kundalini, Taoist theory, sacred geometry, esoteric principles, and metaphor that provides the framework for radical embodiment.
