Check out this short interview with Abhi, one of my students. 1. Why did you decide to take piano lessons? Music always intrigued me as a kid. I used to wonder how someone could make music from an instrument which just has black and white keys or strings. It was like an enigma which I thought I could never crack. I decided to learn to play the piano as an adult. Pianos, for me, have always been the grandest of the instruments in an orchestra. It is the center focus of almost all classical pieces I have listened to and it is versatile to be used with other kinds of music like jazz and pop. There is also a good usage of pianos/keyboards in contemporary eastern music like Bollywood and K-pop. 2. How has learning the piano impacted your life? Learning to play the piano has made me a more patient person. It has taught me perseverance as well. Learning music takes time just like any other skill. Most of us give up because we think that progress we make is very slow. Continuing to learn even though it’s taking a long time and not giving up is the key to making progress. 3. What would you say to others who are considering lessons with Ken Reynolds? I would say that Mr. Reynolds from Reynolds Piano is a great teacher. He will patiently help you out and make you a better musician. You will have to be patient and not give up on yourself. Continue with your lessons and practice even if you find it difficult. Learning the piano is a long but rewarding process.
