A Message from Distinguished Teaching on COVID-19
At Distinguished Teaching, the health and safety of our clients, staff and business partners remains our highest priority.
We have been keeping up to date with the latest developments concerning the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and the broader impact it has on the communities we serve. We understand that, in uncertain times, it is imperative that we focus on a personal connection because our community is what makes us strong.
Most of the tutors presented at Distinguished Teaching remain fully committed to helping their students achieve social, emotional, and educational success in the most professional and efficient way possible. To help minimize the effect of this pandemic majority of teachers implemented a contingency plan to serve their students regardless of location.
We are closely following the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) guidelines and recommendations on the necessary precautions to stay operational for our communities during these difficult times. For students who miss their connection with their teacher and fellow students, we have compiled suggestions for safe work in a confined environment.
1. Check in advance whether the place you’re going to is open for in-person classes – not all areas will be.
While most places remain open for business, they might require all of their staff to work remotely from their homes.
2. Ask if they support virtual operations across their entire range of services.
Consider no contact (online first) classes, e.g., virtual meetings via video conference and share screens. Expand your use of phone and email correspondence as well as online technologies such as Zoom, GoToMeeting, Skype, FaceTime, etc., in favor of face-to-face interactions.
3. Identify social distancing procedures.
In view of COVID-19 regulations, students might be asked to adhere to all safe distancing practices and bring their masks, hand sanitizers, and water bottles as the water fountains might not be available.
4. Safe environment.
Find out whether the place has adopted new cleaning and disinfecting procedures, which includes:
- Disinfecting high touch surfaces between each class;
- Cleaning and disinfecting props and equipment between use;
- Cleaning and disinfecting shared spaces daily;
- Keeping doors open to allow for air flow.
5. Pay by credit card.
This way, you won’t need to transfer cash from hand to hand.
6. Please call ahead for the most current information and status updates.
Take care of yourself and do not hesitate to be careful: remember that all the measures you take to fight the virus are not only a social responsibility but also your safety.
Let us remember to thank our doctors, nurses, and all healthcare workers who are risking their health to care for the most vulnerable among us. We truly owe them our gratitude and support.
