Sidekicks Martial Arts was founded in 1994 by Grand Master Brian Pontillo, 8th Degree Black Belt, to teach the system of Moo Sool Do ("the way of the martial arts"). This style incorporates Tae Kwon Do, Tang Soo Do (Korean Karate) and Hap Ki Do. For nearly three decades, Sidekicks has evolved to teach kickboxing and Krav Maga to meet the fitness and self-defense needs of the community.

Sentiment Analysis
Master Brian is great very welcoming and has been operating for a long time very proud to have been apart of this back then and so ecstatic my kids get to enjoy something I did as a child!
He’s learned so much, both physically and mentally.
I love that all the kids look out for each other and they never put anyone down that is having a hard time and they help each other out .
Even after moving across the state to Grand Rapids we found a way to reconnect when Sidekicks started offering Zoom classes during the pandemic.
My son has been training here for the last few years and has learned martial arts and life lessons that he will remember for the rest of his life.
My son and I have been going to sidekicks for over 2 years and the value that we are getting from Grand Master Brian's program is exceptional.
It took me over a year to find a place that mirrored the Japanese Karate discipline and comradery when I could not go anymore because Sensei had moved back to Ohio.
The staff, from Grand Master Brian on down, set high expectations and provide the tools and training to meet them.
Inspire him to put in the effort and challenge him to get better and grow his ability, physical strength and mental discipline.
They train you technique, why your doing what your doing, effective body movements, grappling, kicking, punching (and how to do well)
