Bhangra is a style of dance that originated in the Punjab region of Northern India. It was originally a folk dance to celebrate the harvest time. Traditional Bhangra has always played a major part in the life of the people. Bhangra has developed as a combination of dances from different parts of the Punjab region. The term "Bhangra" now refers to several kinds of dances and arts, including Jhumar, Giddha, Dhamal, Kikli and Sammi. It includes the use of many instruments such as Dhol, Algozey, Saap, Kaato, Chimta, Khunda, Tumbi, Dhad and Dafli. Bhangra is an expression of our culture and uniqueness and a way of showcasing all that is unique about us.
