Jim Smith Karate has been in business since 1973, under the direction of Hanshi Jim Smith, who has been bringing Westchester and Putnam County the very best in martial arts instruction in the style of Goju-Te Karate. Although our techniques are based on century-old knowledge, it is our application of that knowledge that sets Jim Smith Karate apart. Our instructional methods allow students to develop a strong foundation in basic skills, and gives them the opportunity to strengthen their natural physical abilities in order to maximize their self-defense skills.

Most importantly through these competitions, the instructors have taught their students valuable lessons in camaraderie, perseverance, confidence and winning/losing with grace.
Alex is, as of now, almost a black belt, and me and Alex’s family couldn’t be prouder of how far he has come, how he has never given up, no matter the situation, and it all started out as a place where either he went there or not.
We absolutely love the staff at Jim Smith!

Students of all ages (toddlers, kids, teens, and adults all have a place here) learn an excellent style of karate that is very effective for self-defense, while also promoting confidence, respect, and building physical & mental strength.
