Carole Murphy

I was tempted by the sculpting class but was a little worried since I normally don't do any arts.

Carole has a great way of bringing light-heartedness, compassion, and humor into teaching you how to see sculpture, as she guides you in the use of tools and materials and through your own creative process.

I love the fact that in Carole's work she reuses items that were once a vital part of someone's life (once used, then discarded) and redefines them into something that is relevant for this day and age.

I've seen many of her beginning students start with caution and, through her gentle encouragement, watch their confidence grow so they begin to create with an expression of their own.

I took her course with no sculpting skills to start and through her creative encouragement, which is plentiful and lighthanded, found my own creative gift.

Then when I got the hang of it, she gave me lots of pointers on design and helped me learn to express myself in whatever I was doing.

Carole knew just how to guide me to see and understand just what I needed to create a sculpture that I'm proud of.
