Sentiment Analysis
His own curriculum builds a strong foundation and reinforces good habits, but he is also flexible enough to generate exercises on-the-spot when you have something specific you want to work on.
Played to a song within a few weeks of starting, which was extremely satisfying.
Dan introduced the basic beats and the drum components step-by-step, so we didn't feel overwhelmed by new info at all.
As someone who has been learning to play the drums as an adult (with zero prior music experience), Dan has been absolutely great—he’s helped every step of the way and made me feel comfortable learning something brand new.
Aside from his strengths as a teacher, his rates are extremely reasonable, and his studio is in a convenient location in Bushwick/East Williamsburg.
He is very clear and super good at breaking down songs to learn.
He has a good sense of the things that are difficult for a beginner (or “advanced beginner”), such as left-hand competence and limb independence, and has me doing exercises for improving those things.
I’m an educator myself so I know that if my teacher seemed impatient, judgmental or lacked self awareness in any way I likely would not have stuck with it!
So patient and flexible with how you want to learn!!
He really has a way of communicating with kids so that they look forward to his lessons (a huge win as far as I'm concerned).
