Mr. Aaron Cardenas is the best guitar teacher we found for our son almost three years ago. We were trying to find a classical guitarist in Honolulu. There were several guitar teachers, but we could not find any teacher who had expertise in classical guitar performance. It took us half a year to find Mr. Cardenas who had just come back from mainland. We were impressed by his accomplishment in academy as well as performance. Our son was 7 years old and did not even know how to read music. But he really enjoyed the guitar lessons and quickly progressed. Mr. Cardenas has a gentle heart and is great in teaching kids. I tend do get very nervous doing any kind of performances, but she is very good at creating an accepting and comfortable environment.
He is soo knowledgeable about guitar playing in regards to body positioning, reading and practicing music, overcoming mental blocks and so much more.
I was seeking ukulele lessons (they offer guitar also) for my shy 6-year-old, and Aaron has been a perfect teacher - engaged, encouraging, and adaptable to my son's pace and personality.
She later started to also take voice lessons from Marissa and is continuing to progress her skills in voice.
It has been so special to see my son progress from not knowing how to properly hold a guitar to performing a song at school in such a short period of time.
Marissa is so patient and encouraging and really breaks down the tempo of the songs and uses different techniques for my 6 year old to grasp (having my daughter shake a maraca to the tempo while singing, or her knee to keep time, and using creative ways to hit the right note).
She was a beginner and she learnt a great deal from her classes with Aaron.
Over the course of two years, our son grew so much in his ukulele & guitar skills and we’re thankful that he was able to learn the joy of music through Mr.
I liked how every minute of each lesson is put to use, and everything is explained clearly.
Aaron greatly improved my skills and understanding of both guitar and music in general.
